This classical guitar piece was written by Stanley Myers and is most famous for being the theme song to the movie 'The Deer Hunter'(1979). 

The piece had been recorded by John Williams many years before that movie was made. It had originally been written for piano, but at Williams' request Myers re-wrote it for guitar and expanded it.

Before 'Deer Hunter', it had been used on the soundtrack of the movie 'The Walking Stick'(1970).

As well as being a hit for John Williams, it has also been a chart success for The Shadows and, with added lyrics by Cleo Laine, for Iris Williams (no relation to John).

Classical guitarist Williams interprets one of Satie's series of pieces written for piano. 

A note on the title: "Gnossienne" is one of a very few occasions where a new word was coined by the composer distinctly intended to indicate a (new) "type" of composition. 

Satie had used and would use a lot of names for his compositions that never had been used to indicate a piece or type of music before: for example "ogive" had been the name of an architectural element until Satie used it as the name for a composition, the Ogives; similar for "vexations", "croquis et agaceries" and so on, but gnossienne was a word that simply didn't exist before Satie used it to indicate a composition. 

The word "gnossienne" appears to be derived from the word gnosis, which doesn't appear too surprising since Satie was involved in gnostic sects and movements at the time when starting to compose Gnossiennes.

However some published versions claim the word derives from Cretan Knossos or "Gnossus" and link the Gnossiennes to Theseus, Ariadne and the Minotaur myth. Images are of water reflections.

Julio Sosa no me mata como cantante.

Son loos arreglos, no están cerca de mi gusto. 

Como lo hacía Fresedo que le ponía campanitas al tango.

Una pena pues la voz recia de Julio se hubiera beneficiado más en otro gusto.

Hay una cosa de cabaret afrancesado en eso.

Piazzola a este tipo de tango le daba con un palo y sin asco, como a él no tuvieron compasión alguna en dárselos, fastidiándolo toda la vida, como se hace con quienes están muy lejos en calidad, como lo estab, en la composición, Astor, de esto.

Pero es innegable la calidad de su voz, la potencia y armonización, la hombría recia que transmite.

Las calidades hay que saber reconocerlas más allá de las cercanías del gusto del corazón.

Prefiero las interpretaciones, las decidoras, las que dicen, las que varían más acentos de las frases para rescatar el sentido que la homogeneización en la que caen muchos cantores que tiene un gran caudal de voz.

Bello tango, bien interpretado.
